Giving back to the community

Every year we provide pro bono services to illegible participants to help strengthen our communities to improve lives. Below is a list of activities we carry out in the community.

5. Home Safety Assessments for Seniors

Description: Free or subsidized home safety assessments to help seniors live independently and safely at home.

Activities:

  • Assessments for fall risks (loose rugs, poor lighting, etc.)
  • Recommendations on safety aids like grab bars and non-slip mats
  • Providing referrals to services that install safety equipment
  • Educating families on home modifications for aging in place

6. Mental Health & Wellness Initiatives

Description: Programs aimed at improving mental health and wellness, especially among isolated seniors and caregivers.

Activities:

  • Hosting support groups for seniors dealing with loneliness or grief
  • Providing mental health counseling or referrals to professionals
  • Mindfulness and relaxation classes (e.g., meditation, art therapy)
  • Mental health awareness campaigns for the community

7. Youth Health Awareness and Education

Description: Educational outreach targeting younger members of the community to instill good health habits early.

Activities:

  • School programs teaching the importance of nutrition, exercise, and hygiene
  • Vaccination drives in collaboration with local health organizations
  • First aid and CPR training for teenagers
  • Information sessions on mental health awareness for youth and parents

8. Hospice Care Support & Education

Description: Offering compassionate support to families facing end-of-life care challenges and providing education on hospice care services.

Activities:

  • Workshops on understanding hospice and palliative care options
  • Support groups for families of hospice patients
  • Volunteer programs offering companionship to hospice patients
  • Resources on bereavement and coping with loss

9. Nutrition Assistance for Vulnerable Populations

Description: Addressing food insecurity by providing nutritious meals to homebound seniors and individuals with health challenges.

Activities:

  • Meal delivery services for homebound or low-income patients
  • Organizing community food drives or nutrition education events
  • Partnerships with local food banks to distribute meals
  • Offering grocery shopping assistance for seniors with limited mobility

10. Volunteering & Community Outreach

Description: Engaging volunteers from the community to assist with caregiving and other supportive tasks.

Activities:

  • Volunteer recruitment drives for companionship programs
  • Organizing community service days where volunteers visit seniors
  • Training volunteers to assist with non-medical caregiving tasks
  • Collaborating with local schools and organizations to offer service-learning opportunities
